Renowned for our robust and safe bathroom solutions in mental health settings, we brought our expertise in anti-ligature and durable sanitaryware to this incredible collaborative opportunity.
Spearheaded by Kingsway Group and Cauldwell Childrens Charity, the Co-Production CAMHS Bedroom Collaboration is an innovative initiative focused on enhancing the safety and therapeutic quality of bedrooms in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) facilities.
Standing out for its user-centred design approach, and actively involving young patients, their families, and healthcare professionals in the design process, Kingsway have ensured the spaces meet the unique needs of the users. Our involvement also ensures that the bathroom components in CAMHS facilities are both safe and supportive of this uniquely therapeutic environment.

Collaborative Design Process - Kingsway Group partnered with various stakeholders, including patients, healthcare providers, and architects, to gather comprehensive feedback. With additional input from several specialist suppliers, this collaborative effort ensures that the design solutions are practical, effective, and tailored to the specific needs of young mental health patients.
Safety and Well-being - A primary focus of the project is to create environments that minimize risks and enhance the safety of the patients. This includes implementing anti-ligature fixtures and fittings to prevent self-harm and incorporating materials and designs that are both durable and comforting.
Therapeutic Environment - Beyond safety, the project aims to create a therapeutic and calming environment conducive to recovery. This involves careful consideration of colour schemes, lighting, and overall room aesthetics to promote a sense of tranquillity and well-being.
Innovative Solutions - The project leverages the highest levels of expertise in anti-ligature products and innovative design solutions, and includes advanced monitoring systems and secure, yet homely, furniture and fixtures that support the therapeutic goals of the facility.
Positive Feedback - The initiative has received positive feedback from healthcare professionals and patients alike, highlighting the importance and effectiveness of involving end-users in the design process. Testimonials from various NHS Trusts underscore the project's success in improving patient safety and satisfaction.
The Co-Production CAMHS Bedroom Collaboration project exemplifies how thoughtful, inclusive design can make a significant impact on mental health care environments. By prioritizing the voices of those who use these spaces, we’re setting a new standard for patient-centred care in mental health facilities.
